Quick tips on how to make £££ for the summer holidays

With the summer holidays fast approaching, I'm sure I'm not the only one very anxious about the additional cost. Especially has it seems to creep higher and higher with each passing birthday.

Here are my quick tips to earn a little extra cash for the summer!

Pre-loved markets

When I thought of the small fourtune we once again spent on setting up for a newborn, I was determine to see atleast some of that money back. If for nothing else but to fund the next stage of toys, clothing etc required for our toodler. Though i feel i was pretty reserved with the baby shopping this time around, only really pushing the boat out for a new pushchair. I still didnt want to just give our stuff away or bin it. After alot of looking around, i chose to go with the mum2mum preloved market.

It cost £22 to book a table at my local market which also gives you

- A trestle table 6ft wide and a space approx 0.8m wide for large items or a clothes rail at the side

- Free entry for stall holder and one helper

- Extensive marketing in the local area to help drive buyers to your stall

- An email with tip on maximising sales

I personally didnt recieve any marketing for my stall & I had to chase up the email giving tips on selling. One of the main pieces of advice i would give anyone looking to join one of these markets is CONFIDENCE, CONFIDENCE, CONFIDENCE. It cant be said enough.

My foot traffic increased ten fold once id stopped shying away. The reality is, If your not confident in what your selling how do you expect customers to be?

Something to also keep in mind toys, electricals and furniture sell the best. Unless your clothes hae something unique about them or your selling them for next to nothing. Clothing doesnt sell very well.

When you minus the £22 it costs to book the table i walked away with £143 profit after selling 13 items including a bottle prep machine, a baby swing, a walker & a highchair.

Shpock/Ebay/Gumtree (digital boot sales)

Selling on these networks generally take alot longer to make a single sale and your profile rating is based on your buyers (truthful or not). You should always be realistic when pricing your items, as buyers are exposed to multiple choses of the same item. Making sure your description stands out is a sure way to put you in a better position to make sales.

Signing up to these platforms and selling items tends to be free though you can pay a premuim to promote your listing to a bigger audience. Maximising your selling potential. Ensuring your images have great lighting and are clear will help grab the attentions of buyers maximising your selling potential.
